Match report - Robert Trent 'Judge' (Monday the 12th and 19th of April)
‘Judge’ by name Judge by nature, the Robert Trent Judge Course was the venue for the 2nd Golftorium corporate league meet. Split meets again meant that teams had to hold tight to find out their finishing scores with a number of teams putting in another solid performance. The 1st hole set the scene for the round as a 60ft drop looking over the judge lake made for spectacular viewing.
BDP (Architect Firm) has the honours this month of being mentioned first with an amazing round of 24. A great round on what was a tough course. The golf pro viewed this one and reported that it was a team of two half’s! Mark (BDP) playing sum beautiful golf while Kevin his team mate was trying his best to destroy their round as well as the Golftorium!
Another early mention has to go out to CFS COOP in particular Jens Walton who shot an eagle on the Judge (I am sure this will turn into an albatross as the season continues). Never the less Steve and Jens (CFS COOP) showed that the course did have some golf in it even if it did take some finding. Driver Jonas and DWF were our two new comers this week both teams finding their feet with respectable scores (17 & 16). I am sure like other teams these scores will only go up when they get more familiar with the format. However a mention to Chris Gee (DWF) who played possibly the shot of the meet with a 200 yard tee shot to land 30 inches from the pin on the par 3 6th hole(very nice!).
Mathys & Squire and Jacobs again showed why they will be contenders at the end of the season with respectable scores of 18 & 19. Consistency during the season will be crucial and these two teams seem to be demonstrating this with consistent team selection and team scores.
This month’s MVP has to be Simon Entwistle (KPMG) left stranded by his partner until the 8th hole Simon showed great composure to come away with a sold 17 pts for his company! A sympathetic mention to MIDAS also as two relatively green (excuse the pun) golfers showed that they were not to be intimidated by any teams on the night.
A & B Insurance Brokers again shot an excellent round and I cannot see it being too long before this company really show some form and put a round in that all teams will stand up and take notice of.
On a side note gentleman the next meet will be the Monday the 10th of May can we all make a huge effort to make it! We should have food on as a new chef will be starting in the upcoming weeks so food and refreshments will be even better.
For the mean time though keep practising and have a nice bank holiday weekend (I am hoping mine will be spent on the golf course).
