Match report - Chataeu Whistler (Monday the 7th and 14th of June)

With the England football team crashing out of the world cup the only sport now worth keeping an eye on is the Golftorium Corporate league.....or some event I've heard they're there having down in Wimbledon!?!

Another fascinating round at ‘Chateau Whistler’ saw some big scores produced by our front runners. Gary and Rob (Mathys and Squire) are yet to miss a corporate league meet and with another strong round (22 pts) these guys are firmly placed as one of our own ‘big 4’.

In weeks gone by 25 pts would normally be enough to ensure an easy victory in the corporate league (A & B Insurance). However as teams are finding the greens quickly and getting inside the 6ft gimme regulation in minimal shots, as a result some big scores were shot by both BDP and Brown Shipley each with (27pts). However as we have seen in prior weeks, teams who one week have hit highs have also suffered immediate lows. CFS COOP last week’s high flyers limped home with 19pts, a far cry from last week’s unstoppable round.

Some other teams worthy of mentioning include KPMG who again find themselves just at the back of the pack and are only one or two rounds away from being right back in contention. This steady company may just be waiting to make a late break from the pack. This week’s score 21pts.

Sheppard Robson, a similarly ranked team but with very different score cards, a hit and miss team to say the least but this week appeared to be very much a hit with a well earned 22pts. Leon Herman brought in some new players to the competition in the form of Eddie and Richard who although complete novices to the indoor experience had a fantastic time and shot a respectable 13pts .

Manchester City’s Mark and Tom again turned up raring to go and again carved a ‘unique’ path around the course, well played chaps! The resident law firms seem to struggle this week (Mathys and Squire excluded) this could be due to a number of factors none of which I care to speculate about however some rays of light still filter hope with some more tremendous shots played by both (Lawsons Coppock and Hart’s) David and (DWF’s) Chris. I am still waiting for the inevitable big round from these to firms.

This month’s MVP has to be extended to a team rather than a player Mathys and Squire seem to being keeping up with the bigger players on a regular basis now and although some cataclysmic scores seem to be produced, I will stand by my words in the first week and say consistency is the key. Well done Gary and Rob, I suppose it goes to show alcohol is an overlooked tool in the golfers arsenal!

On a side not guys scores are now up and check your inboxes for the next meet which is either the 12th or the 19th of July. Also if any of you wish to bring down some clients or partners to our open day on the 13th please let me know and I will book you in. Or if you know of anyone who wishes to come down please inform them.
