Match report - Banff Springs (Monday the 10th and 17th of May)

Before any of the golf formalities get underway congratulations or commiserations are in order to Mark Rodgers who last weekend tied the knot and is now a ‘happily’ married man!!! With a score of 24 pts A & B Insurance Brokers best score to date perhaps Mark should get married at the start of every month! Congratulations Mark!!!

Now down to business....... With the 2009/10 corporate league firmly getting into gear some teams are really starting to find their groove. Our first mention has to go out to Darren and Jens (CFS COOP) who clocked up the highest score to date an outstanding 29pts! If this was any other sport a small cup would be provided for a drugs test! Another mention has to go out to Gary and Rob (Mathys & Squire) who seem to be getting to grips nicely with the corporate league scoring the second highest round of the meet with an impressive 25 pts. These two underdogs could be a real surprise at the end of the season.

Even though the league has only been running for a few months’ companies already seem to be producing some seasoned pros and ‘old guard’ players! So when an influx of new players from Driver Jonas, Midas, KPMG, and Brown Shipley all ventured in to the ‘lion’s den’ a few grins may have appeared at the prospect of some poor scores. This was not the case with all four teams rallying hard and putting some impressive scores down, Brown Shipley’s Lee and Nishant with the best score out of all a fearless 24 pts.

A mention must got to Mark and Tom from Manchester City Football Club who although not great golfers are showing a steady improvement. Mark and Tom were both in excellent form around the green holding some impressive putts for a well deserved 12 pts. Stephen and David (Lawson’s Coppock & Heart) are finally starting to find there groove with a very nice 23 pts. A particular mention has to be extended to David who played some spectacular fairway-green shots and was striking the ball superbly all night. As a result this Month’s MVP has to go to David from Lawson’s, Coppock and Hart.

Chris Gee (DWF) again showed some impressive tee shots and with some accurate approach shots we can expect big things from this law firm in the next 2 months. A final mention of the month should be extended to Sheppard Robson and Midas, both teams as always played admirably and although one or two shots seemed to put them of there stride a dogged determination saw them through the front 9.

The next meet due to Puma (the Sports Company hosting a launch event with us) will be either the 14th/21st of June.
